Don’t let the weekend become your “weak end."

The weekend is where our results tend to go south. All week you’ve been consistent with your workouts and nutrition and then Saturday and Sunday roll around and BAM, self control is out the window. We’ve all been there!

If you find that you easily stray away from your goals over the weekend, don’t fear, you’re not alone and there are some simple strategies that can be implemented:

1. Water, water, water! Make it a nonnegotiable task to drink a glass when you wake up and shoot to get in 80-100 oz throughout the day! Pack your water bottle around like it’s your child. Water helps manage cravings and keeps everything moving in your digestive tract. If you plan on drinking alcohol, make sure you are drinking plenty of water beforehand and alternate water in between drinks!

2. Stay active! Get some sort of movement in. Whether you have a workout planned or not, make sure you move your body! Go for a walk, do some yoga, get outside. Find the balance between rest and movement, but don’t forget to get that blood pumping!

3. Get enough sleep! Your body needs time to repair and recover. This is just as important in reaching your goals as eating healthy and exercising!

4. Veggies! Don’t forget about your greens! I’m notorious for avoiding vegetables on the weekend, but it’s so important to be fueling our bodies properly every day, not just Monday through Friday. If you struggle with this, try blending them in a smoothie, a magical trick to eliminate the taste and pack in some nutrients!

5. If you’re planning on going out to eat, look up the menu ahead of time and formulate a plan before you even get to the restaurant. To avoid overindulging, plan to bring half of your meal home for leftovers.

6. GIVE YOURSELF GRACE! It’s okay to celebrate, it’s okay to eat dessert, it’s okay to treat yourself. The point is to be more aware and in tune with your actions so you aren’t having to start from ground zero come Monday morning.

Remember, food is meant to be enjoyed and life is meant to be lived. But let’s take care of our bodies while doing it, yeah? Happy weekend, not weak end!
