Grocery Shopping Causing Anxiety? Try This!

Anyone else get anxiety when it comes to the grocery store? So many options, so little time!


I can absolutely relate, but have learned a few tips and tricks that help overcome the aisle anxiety:


1. MAKE A LIST. And more importantly, take inventory before you make that list! No need to buy more bread if you already have a loaf sitting in the pantry!


2. Make sure you have eaten before you head to the store. You’re much less likely to buy things you don’t need if you have a full and satiated belly.


3. Try to plan out meals, snacks, etc. that you want to have for the week, that way you’re buying what you actually need and aren’t over doing it. Over purchasing can often lead to wasting food!


4. Go at a time that isn’t extremely busy, if at all possible. (For example: try to avoid the post-church rush on Sunday) The less people the better, in my opinion!


5. Utilize a time when you don’t feel rushed. Feeling rushed can cause you to forget what you’re there to buy and makes it easier succumb to the less nutritious foods cause you are ready to GET OUT OF THERE.

6. Have a budget in mind and stick to it! Your bank account will thank you later.


7. Use hand sanitizer after (I keep some in the car). Just the nurse in me talking because I care about your health!

Grocery stores can be overwhelming! But working smarter not harder is the true name of the game.


Following the grocery store, I make sure to wash and cut my fruits and vegetables, that way they are easily accessible when I’m ready to eat or cook ‘em! Saves time, effort, and keeps me accountable to my nutritional goals!
